Mary Ann Beckner, 79, of Marion, passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at
St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Prairie Chapel Church in Marion, conducted by Pastor Jon Moss. Private family inurnment will take place at Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Marion.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, DeWayne; daughter, Julie (Mark) Miller; sons, Alan, David and Kevin (Allison) Beckner; grandchildren, Adam (Meghan), Ryan and Jordan Miller and Blane and Chloe Beckner; and great-grandchildren, Ellie and Landon Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Owen and Martin Palmer; and sister, Margaret Pollock.
Mary Ann was born Aug. 4, 1938, in rural Linn County, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Wilma (Mills) Palmer. On Aug. 1, 1959, she was united in marriage to DeWayne L. Beckner in Marion. Mary Ann was a member of Prairie Chapel Church, UMW, other church groups and Farm Bureau Board. She was a 4-H leader and a member of Camp Fire Girls. Mary Ann enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting and going out for coffee with her friends. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as being a snowbird in Arizona.
Memorials may be directed to the family in Mary Ann's memory, which will be given to Camp Courageous and other organizations.
