Jeanne Charlotte Christenson, 98, died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at Living Center West. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday after 9 a.m. Inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery following a luncheon in the parish hall. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving
the family.
Jeanne was born in North English, Iowa, on May 26, 1919, to Harry and Mary (Summitt) DePoy. She attended St. Patrick Catholic School, Cedar Rapids, graduating in 1937, and worked as a clerk at Neisner Brothers Five & Dime. On June 30, 1942, she married Cyrus Orion Christenson at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He preceded her in death, after nearly 75 years of marriage, on March 22, 2017.
Jeanne was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was very content in her vocation.
We have been blessed by her loving presence and are grateful for the faith she instilled in us. She will be dearly missed by all.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Dennis (Sharon) Christenson, Paul Christenson, Teresa (Gary) Smith, Mary (Mitch) Ruffcorn, Kevin (Rachel) Christenson and Colin Christenson; 12 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Arlet Nelson and Audrey Christenson.
She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Junella Dinges.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Labre Indian School or Catholic Relief Service.
