Paul R. McMahon, 83, of Waukee, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Rd., Des Moines. A rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Petersville.
Paul was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Joseph and Olga (Amundson) McMahon. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and faithfully served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He moved to Cottage Grove, Minn., where he raised his family. In 2010, he moved to the Des Moines area. Paul retired from the Department of Defense, where he worked in quality control for more than 30 years.
Paul is survived by his wife, Connie; children, Colleen (Mike) Crawley, Mike (Joyce) McMahon, Pauline (Chris) Cimaszewski and Dennis (Jill) McMahon; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lorraine Ehrman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Josephine (McDermott) McMahon; three brothers, Don, Jack and Leon; and a sister, Joyce.
