William "Bill" M. Ruhlow, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Rose Haven Care Center in Marengo. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Lensing Oak Hill Funeral Service, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rose Haven Activity Fund, P.O. Box 167, Iowa City, IA 52244.
Bill was born Dec. 31, 1932, in Des Moines, the son of Jack and Gladys Smith Ruhlow. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. On June 2, 1963, Bill married Nancy Herron in Iowa City. Bill was a computer operator with the University of Iowa for many years. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved to hunt and golf.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy; and their son, Eric (Melissa) Ruhlow of Iowa City; and three grandchildren, John, Jeff and Cassidy; his uncle, Lloyd Clark of Woodward; and sister-in-law, Connie (Rick) Bixenmann of Urbandale.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt, Jeanne Clark.
