Arlene Sell, 95, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at her residence in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Tripoli.
Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City.

Arlene Bany Sell was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Tripoli, Iowa, to Edwin and Amanda (Quade) Bany. She was baptized Sept. 25, 1921, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tripoli, and confirmed June 9, 1935, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Independence. She graduated from Tripoli High School.
She married Lorenz Sell on July 10, 1941. The couple had one daughter, Kaye. Over the years, they made their home in Tripoli, Clarion, Ellsworth and West Liberty. Lorenz passed away Aug. 10, 1971.
Arlene worked for Westinghouse Information Services until retiring in December 1983. She then worked for NCS part-time until 1988. Arlene moved to Ecumenical Towers in Iowa City in 1995. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was one of the Friday Folders at Our Redeemer. She taught Sunday school and Bible school at the various churches of which she was a member.
He family includes her daughter, Kaye (Dave) Stoklasa of Cedar Rapids; affectionately known as Granny to granddaughter, Melinda (Kevin) Dauber of North Liberty; grandson, Scott (Carrie) Swart of Cedar Rapids; six great-grandchildren, Courtney, Blake and Brady Dauber of North Liberty, and Zach, Vaughn and Cadance Swart of Cedar Rapids; Arlene's two sisters, Josephine Myers of Sioux City and Sandra Regel of Spokane, Wash.; and four nephews.
Preceding Arlene in death were her husband, Lorenz; parents; brothers-in-law, Richard Regel and George Myers; mother- and father-in-law, William and Ella Sell; and stepbrothers-in-law, Roy Soles and his wife, Iola, and Earl Kuker and his wife, Lee.
