Thomas J. Jeffrey, 59, of Iowa City, died Saturday, June 3, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Thomas Joseph Jeffrey was born July 11, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduated from LaSalle High School and then attended Coe College. Over the years, Tom had worked at New Pioneer Coop, the Iowa City Randalls store and Lear.
Those who knew Tom knew his passion for many things in his life, ranging from a Coke collection that could fill a truck, collecting lottery tickets, the Chicago Cubs, cars, cars and more cars; traveling, painting as an artist and enjoying listening to Bobby Doors Blue Band at the Deadwood. Tom enjoyed life, loved his family and friends, and never knew a stranger!
His family includes his husband, soulmate and best friend, Bryan Godwin; siblings, Theresa Vickroy (Al), Tim Jeffrey, Tracy Jeffrey, Terry Jeffrey (Renate) and Tamara Stastny (Phil); niece and nephew, Cindy Jeffrey and Jack Jeffrey; two special aunts, Sara McDermott and Donna Hernandez; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary McDermott; and his beloved cat, Wrigley.
A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, concluding with the bagpipe rendition of "Amazing Grace."
