Glen D. Herman, 65, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017, in Des Moines, following a valiant battle with cancer. There will be an open house to celebrate his life from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at the Church of the Nazarene, 940 Eastern Ave., Marengo, IA 52301. Inurnment will be in the Tiffin Cemetery at a later date.
Glen David Herman was born May 5, 1952, in Marengo, Iowa, one of five children born to Earl and Glendola Herman. He spent his early years in the Marengo and Dike area, graduating from Dike High School. Glen served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the U.S. Army, stationed in Okinawa. Following his discharge, he returned to Iowa and was employed at John Deere Manufacturing and later as an over-the-road truck driver. When he retired, he looked forward to time spent with other veterans, proudly swapping stories and supporting each other with friendships.
Glen is survived by siblings, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
