Richard Lee Gravenhorst passed away at his home at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family on June 2, 2017.
Richard was born June 11, 1932, in LaPorte City, Iowa. He was the beloved son of the late K.C. Gravenhorst and Arlene Beal LaFrantz, and beloved husband to the late Sally Mead Gravenhorst.
Richard made his home in River Ridge, La., after living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Glendale, Ariz., Little Rock, Ark., and Richardson, Texas. He had lived in Louisiana since 1973. An Air Force veteran, Richard was part owner of Reco Crane Co. Inc., Moxie Media Inc., and Multimedia Holdings LLC.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Kim C. Gallup, his son-in-law, Thomas P. Gallup, and granddaughter, Shelby L. Gallup.
Richard was a devoted Saints, Pelicans and Hawkeye fan, as well as an avid golfer, hunter and sportsman.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Association, 2325 Severn Ave., No. 8, Metairie, LA 70001.
