MARVELLA MAE BAIRD

Marvella Mae Baird, 88, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at Mechanicsville Specialty Care from complications of Alzheimer's. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence with the Rev. Matt Schneider-Adams officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Marvella was born Aug. 21, 1929, to Carl and Martha (Syring) Wulff, in Clarence, Iowa. She married Roy Baird on Sept. 29, 1953, at St. John's UCC in Clarence. He died on June 27, 2013.
Marvella was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked at various Clarence businesses over the years, including Chapman's and Henry Thies' Clothing, and also ran a day care in her home.
Marvella is survived by son, Al (Teri) of Tipton; daughter, Kathy (Dave) Turnball of Indianola; grandchildren, Angela (Sean) Driscoll, Tyler (Kendra) Baird, Sarah Downard and Megan (Kyle) Baker; great-grandchildren, Jaclynne, Kaylee and Landon Driscoll and Caden, Gracee, Kash and Brody Downard; sister-in-law, Judy Wulff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Dale Wulff.
