Timmy Lynn Vogt, 60, formerly of Shellsburg, died Dec. 16, 2017, of a sudden illness. Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 6 at Pearl Street Social Club, Shellsburg, Iowa.
He was born March 11, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Dora Mae (Downing) Vogt and Lee Vogt. He was a 1976 graduate of Shellsburg Community School. He worked for Pat Ryan Construction for many years. He then moved to Vienna, Mo., and later, Alvarado, Texas, where he was a self-employed carpenter.
He had many interests; woodworking and motorcycles were his favorites. If it could be made out of wood, he could do it.
He is survived by his mother, Dora Mae Vogt of Vinton; brothers, Kent (Jane) of Fulton, Ill., Mike (Becky) of Shellsburg and Brian (Cheryl) of Palo; sister, Janice (Jerry) of Walford; two daughters, Nichole Vogt and Rachel Vogt, both of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nehews and grandkids.
He made many friends no matter where he was Cathy and Joe Stroud, Hollis Fikes and everyone at Mansfield Legion Post 624.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee (Short) Vogt.
