MARJORIE M. SEUFFERLEIN

Marjorie M. Seufferlein, 89, of Winthrop, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at her home in Winthrop.
Marjorie was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Alta, Iowa, the daughter of Billie Dee and Anna Marie (Hellman) Ryherd. She graduated from Alta High School in 1946 and attended a cosmetology school in Sioux City. She was married to Charles Clinton Lohse in 1946, and the family lived in Sioux City before moving to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area.
On Dec. 1, 1962, she married Erie Frederick Seufferlein in Waverly. In 1963, Marjorie and Fred moved to Independence and opened Fred's Drive Inn, operating it until 1973. Marjorie then began working for McElroy's Food Market in Winthrop, working there for 33 years before her retirement in 2007.
She enjoyed ceramics and watching old Shirley Temple and John Wayne movies.
She is survived by three children, Richard (Patricia) Lohse of Rembrandt, Roger Lohse of Winthrop and Jean Ann (Richard) Simons of Independence; a stepson, Ron Seufferlein of Waterloo; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sisters, Sara Lorenzen of Rockford, Ill.; and five brothers, John Ryherd of Waterloo, Billie Ryherd of Cedar Falls, Charlie Ryherd of Alta, Kenny Ryherd of Mitchellville and Donnie Ryherd of Madison, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erie Frederick Seufferlein; two grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Floyd Ryherd; and a sister, Margaret Ryherd.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with the Rev. Bob Solon officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
