Vern & Jane Pooley 60 Years On & Still Strong

Sixty years goes quickly when love stays strong and family is first priority. Vern and Jane Pooley will celebrate 60 years of marriage on September 2, 2011. They were high school sweethearts in Oskaloosa, IA. Jane attended William Woods College in Fulton, MO then joined Vern at Simpson College in Indianola, IA.

Vern and Jane were married in Oskaloosa in 1951, started their family in 1953, and were residents of Cedar Rapids for 51 years. Vern sold commercial insurance for more than 45 years while Jane worked tirelessly maintaining their home of five children, six dogs, and one snake Vern will never forget.

Their family, Curt (Barb) Pooley, Lynn (Basil) Hadjis, and Mark (Laurie) Pooley, all in and near Cedar Rapids, Marcy (Rick) Morgan live near Chicago, IL, and Jim (Rhonda) Pooley live in Indianola. Mark and Marcy are twins.

Vern and Jane are blessed with ten grandchildren, Katie, Amie, Jonathan, Andy, Theo, Mark (Jr.), Nicolas, Kristin, Andria, and Rae, and two greatgrandchildren,

Edan and Graham.

Our family's most difficult tragedy was the loss of Andy Pooley just two days after birth, September 9, 1983.

Like anything worth having and standing the test of time, it must be taken care of, respected, and well maintained. Vern and Jane's commitment and love for each other, their dedication to their children, and their children's families takes time, patience, and understanding.

Did I mention patience? Dad, I just wrecked the car....... again.
