Robert and Dorothy Buckner Celebrate Their 70th Wedding Anniversary

Robert and Dorothy (Dumbolton) Buckner will

celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on

December 27, 2016. They were married in

Marion, IA after Robert returned from WWII.

Currently, they reside in Elkader, IA, where Robert retired as the superintendent of Central

Community Schools. Previous to this he was the superintendent at Alburnett and a teacher, coach, and principal at Central City. Dorothy had a short career as a secretary and then became a stay-at-home mom.

The couple have five children: Jim (Georgia) Buckner, Sandra (Tom) Carrico, Karen (Dennis) Maggert, John (Mary) Buckner, and Robin (Bob) Zacher. They have 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, with the ninth due in May.
