Don and Cindy Barrett of Shueyville, IA are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Nicole Barrett, to Derek Mitchell Schroder, son of Van and Kim Schroder of Shellsburg, IA.

The bride-to-be graduated from Prairie High School in 2009 and Hawkeye Community College in 2014 with a degree in Professional Photography. She now owns her own photography business,

Inspiration Photography, and works as a nanny for three wonderful children.

The groom-to-be graduated from Benton Community Senior High School in 2008 and attended Kirkwood Community College for two years before graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 2012 with his Bachelor of Arts and Finance. He will graduate this year from Creighton University with his Masters in Investment Management and Financial Analysis. He currently works as a financial consultant for Care Initiatives in West Des Moines, IA.

The couple plans to be married October 21, 2017 in Cedar Rapids, IA.
