Jon Paul Towers, age 69, passed away peacefully at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., following a brief illness on February 27, 2026. He was born in Anamosa, Iowa on November 1, 1956, to Betty and Mac Towers.
Jon was one of six children from a large and loving family. He had four older brothers and one younger sister. The majority of his childhood and adult years were spent in Iowa. Jon was a tremendous help and support to his parents and siblings alike. He assisted his Dad with his veterinary business throughout his youth. He cared for his mother during her final days at home, always kind and thoughtful. Jon was a very dependable person.
Jon was an avid reader, an intelligent and thoughtful learner, a dependable friend, and a terrific brother. His interests included cross-country skiing, biking, camping, and hiking. He had a great love for the outdoors and particularly Lake Superior and northern Minnesota. He was a graduate of The University of Minnesota Duluth with a business degree and later completed a computer program degree. Jon worked as a computer programmer for many years, he enjoyed his career.
He is survived by his two brothers, sister, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and two brothers. Jon will be greatly missed, rest in peace dear brother and friend.
