Alan “Al” John Waite, 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Al was born on February 9, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Harold and Elizabeth (Lock) Waite. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1980. He was united in marriage to Lisa Larson on November 2, 1991, and one daughter was born to this union. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Sherrie Rustad on May 5, 2006. They later divorced. He spent the majority of his career working for Century Laundry, formerly RJ Kool and Dexter in Cedar Rapids. In retirement, he sold beautiful hand-carved spoons, spurtle whisks, and charcuterie boards at farmers markets and vendor shows.
Al was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He loved woodworking, fishing, gardening, music, and animals. He never missed an opportunity to share one of his many quick-witted jokes. Most of all, he loved spending time with his daughter and granddaughter, who were the light of his life.
Al is survived by his daughter Rylie (Nick) Hucker and granddaughter Alice Hucker, sister Linda (Mark) Plahn, nephews Bryan (Beth) Weiss and Scott Mullins, and niece Kelcee (Michael) Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Elizabeth Waite, his sister Patty (Waite) Weiss, and a very special dog he cherished his whole life, Wrigley.
