Inez Marie “Marie” McLeod, 71, of Central City, Iowa, passed away in her sleep on February 7, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Per her request there will be no funeral or visitation services. Born on February 15, 1954, to Thomas and Barbara Thomsen, in Muscatine County, Marie grew up surrounded by a family who cherished her warmth, determination, and unending love.
Marie spent her life devoted to those she loved most. She worked hard to help support her family, instilling in her children the values of perseverance and kindness. Her happiest moments were those shared with her husband, Larry McLeod and their children, Melissa Long, Lacea Mcleod, and Mark McLeod; and grandchildren, Larissa, Madison, and McKenna.
Whether gathered around a campfire with family or curled up with a favorite romance novel. Marie enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature.
Marie is also survived by her siblings Richard Thomsen, John Thomsen, and Joleen McGee. She was preceded in death by her sister Jeanne Ely sister Penny Werling, and brother David Thomsen. Her spirit, laughter, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Though her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, her family takes comfort in the precious memories she leaves behind. As Marie often said, “I love you to the moon and back.”
