What to know: After picking up its first ranked win of the season, Iowa faces its third consecutive ranked opponent Sunday afternoon, No. 24 Wisconsin. It’s the first time since the 2019-20 season that the Hawkeyes face a trio of top 25 teams.
Iowa’s 57-52 win over No. 9 Nebraska gave the Hawkeyes their third Quad 1 win of the year and snapped a two-game skid. The Tuesday night victory was the first top 10 home win since 2019.
Wisconsin has won nine of its last 12 games, currently sitting sixth in the Big Ten standings. The Badgers are 13-2 at Kohl Center this season, only falling to Purdue and USC at home. Wisconsin has also trapped ranked opponents like Michigan and Illinois at home this year, and its currently in the middle of a three-game win streak at home.
The Badgers’ backcourt includes Nick Boyd and John Blackwell, a duo that averages a combined 39.1 points per game. Boyd (20.3) sits fourth in scoring, while Blackwell (18.8) sits in seventh.
Wisconsin has scored at least 90 points in 11 games this season, averaging 83.1 points per game. Iowa has held all but one team below its scoring average this year.
“They can really score,” Iowa head coach Ben McCollum said. “Their offense is probably top 10 in the country. They’ve had games where they just really shockingly beat teams. They did a good job versus Michigan State. They’ve had some big, tough wins, and they’re very talented.”
