Souham “Susie” G. Nassif, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, February 16, 2026, at St. George Orthodox Church with the Trisagion service beginning at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, also at St. George Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at St. George Orthodox Cemetery.
Susie was born on June 6, 1944, to Gearges and Latifah Haddy in Ain Arab, Lebanon. She immigrated to the U.S. at a young age, bravely making the journey on her own before being joined later by several family members.
She married the love of her life, Elias Nassif, on February 25, 1968, in Cedar Rapids. Together, they built a life rooted in hard work, love, and community, opening and operating many restaurants and businesses over the years. Hard work came naturally to her. In the restaurants, she poured love into every meal and greeted every customer with the warmth she was known for.
Susie was a strong, beautiful woman, inside and out. She was devoted to her faith and was a long-time member of St. George Orthodox Church. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers, and cooking both Middle Eastern and American dishes. Most of all, she treasured time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Elias; her daughters, Laura (Greg) McCoy, Melinda Nassif, and Cynthia (Jeremy) McCann; grandchildren, Zackery Scott, Payton McCoy, Jaelynn, Aden, and Luke McCann; her sisters, Hiyam Freiha of the United States, and Mounifah Abou Assaly of Lebanon; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven of her siblings.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
