Daniel “Danny” Bernard Sullivan, 88, of Iowa City passed away Monday, February 9, 2026 at Windmill Manor. A visitation will be held from 4-6 PM Monday, February 16, 2026, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City; with a rosary recited at 3:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Chuck Adam officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Parnell, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Danny Sullivan Memorial Fund.
Danny was born on March 23, 1937, in Iowa, the son of John and Helen (Donahoe) Sullivan. He graduated from Parnell High School in 1955. On January 23, 1957, Danny married Dolores Organ; she preceded him in death on September 23, 2020. He worked for over 37 years at Procter and Gamble, retiring in 1995. Dolores and Danny enjoyed trips to Ireland and Croatia. He had a heart of gold and everywhere he went he made friends.
Danny spent years working on his cars and repairing cars for others. He had several classic cars that he and Dolores would take to car shows, including a Model T he restored himself. Danny built a mini rod tractor and competed in tractor pulling. He enjoyed building and flying remote-controlled airplanes. He enjoyed tinkering with anything that had an engine. Danny was a woodworker and built several things for their home.
Danny is survived by his children, John Sullivan of Coralville, Anne (Cory) Clabaugh and Danielle Greenlee of North English; five grandchildren, Miranda (JC) Holloway, Cody Clabaugh, Colton (Alysha), Devin and Rayna Greenlee; and one great-grandchild, Lukas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores; son, Terry Sullivan; two siblings, Mary Johnson and Gene Sullivan; and son-in-law, Richard Greenlee.
