A Tiffin man was arrested Wednesday on charges that he sent videos using a messaging app that showed children engaging in sex acts, as well as videos showing humans engaging in sex acts with animals.
Cody Albin, 32, is charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of bestiality. According to criminal complaints, the videos were all sent in June 2025 through the messaging app Kik.
MediaLab, the company that owns the messaging app, notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in June that a user may have uploaded sexual content of minors, and the center notified the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in November that the IP address associated with the user had been traced to the Johnson County area, according to a warrant request filed in the case.
Johnson County investigators used user details from MediaLab to determine that Albin was the likely owner of the account, and executed search warrants on his devices and on his Kik account, where they found the videos of children and the videos of animals.
A warrant was issued for Albin’s arrest on Feb. 6, and he was taken into custody Wednesday. He had his first appearance in court Wednesday and is being held in the Johnson County Jail on combined bails totaling $55,000.
