What: No. 15 Iowa (18-5, 9-3) vs. No. 24 Washington (18-6, 8-5), Big Ten women’s basketball
When/where: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Iowa City
TV: B1G+
Radio: Hawkeye Radio Network affiliates
Iowa’s next game: At Nebraska, 11 a.m. Monday.
What to know: Last year, Iowa snapped a five-game losing streak with a 85-61 victory at Washington.
The Hawkeyes could sorely use a similar outcome Wednesday; they have dropped three in a row after a 9-0 Big Ten start.
One reason for the recent slump is a slide on the defensive end. Iowa allowed 63 points per game through its first 20 games, but that number has jumped to 86.7 ppg in the past three.
Since conference play began, Washington actually has been more successful on the road (4-2) than at home (4-3). Both of the Huskies’ most recent wins have been in overtime — at Maryland and at Wisconsin.
The game will feature two of the Big Ten’s top rebounders. Iowa’s Hannah Stuelke is second in the category at 8.6 boards per game; Washington’s Avery Howell (8.3) is fourth.
Washington’s Sayvia Sellers is fifth in the league in scoring, at 19.6 ppg.
