Marlene Ann Dostal, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Visitation: 4:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2026, with a rosary at 6:00 p.m., Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, 1228 2nd Street SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery.
Marlene was born on February 20, 1937, in Calmar, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Ann (Yirkovsky) Huber. She was united in marriage to AJ Dostal on September 5, 1957, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Marlene enjoyed being a member of the Aladdin Knights of the Mystic Light Club and embroidering for their annual quilt. She was a faithful member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and baking her kolaches and rohliky for Goulash Days. She had a great love for animals, especially her dogs. Marlene had a wonderful sense of humor and made friends everywhere she went.
Marlene is survived by her children, Lori Gillen, Lynn Huston, Jill Klostermann, and Toni (Tom) Fischels; grandchildren, Brad (Jen) Gillen, Maegen (Jason) Knapp, Jennifer (Dallas) Wilson, Stephanie (Mike) Dominick, Beau (Sara) Gillen, Haley (Cody) Gillen, Adam (Jayme) Huston, Sara Huston, Jess (Brea) Klostermann, and Blake Klostermann; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Delores Kimbro, Marilyn Nuzum, and Clarence Huber.
Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
