Virgil Wayne Heaton, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, surrounded by his family.
The beloved husband of the late Sally De Heaton (nee Hudson); loving father of Mike, Steve (Melinda), Tim (Kris) and the late Sue Heaton; grandpa of Katie (Dave) Johnson, Eric Heaton, Emily Heaton, Lauren (Luke) Ding, Justin (Zoe) Heaton, Jenna Heaton, Lindsey (Martin) Casillas & Erin (Scott) Jaeger, Courtney (Tyler) Anderson, Branwen Jorenby & Parker Jorenby; great-grandpa of Curtis Johnson, Zoe Kiefer, Myla & Kylie Jaeger, Mackenzie & Callie Anderson, Lucas & Caroline Heaton. He was the loved son of Kenneth W. and Elizabeth A. Heaton (nee Raim).
Virgil was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and spent his career as a railroad
electrician, retiring from CRANDIC. An accomplished do-it-yourselfer in home projects, he enjoyed supporting many home improvement projects with his children and friends. Family and friends were also blessed by the strength, wit, and wisdom he imparted.
Visitation beginning at 1:00 pm followed by a service will be Friday, February 6, 2026, at EverTrue Breeze Park Chapel, 600 Breeze Park Drive, Weldon Spring, MO 63304.
Interment will be the next day, Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Floral Hills Cemetery in Hazelton, Iowa, near Oelwein where Virgil was born and, with Sally, began their family.
Memorials are suggested to Breeze Park-Lutheran Senior Services Benevolent Care Fund or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
