Frances Louise “Judy” Heims, 85, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service. Committal service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Prairieburg, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Judy was born on August 2, 1940, in Buchanan, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel “Archie” and Dora “Louise” (Johnson) Rudd. She was a 1958 graduate of Central City High School. On June 11, 1960, Judy was united in marriage to Alfred Joseph Heims in Prairieburg. She worked as a factory worker at Rockwell Collins until 1998, also worked in the cafeteria and then as a bus driver assistant for Linn-Mar Schools until 2009. Judy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). She loved to bake with her grandchildren, going on family camping trips, sewing, and square dancing. Judy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and knew her quick wit.
Judy is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Kimberly Rose of Marion, Gregory Heims (Jessica Shelton) of Cedar Rapids, and Kathryn (Tom) Van Erdewyk of Carroll, Iowa; grandchildren, Brad (Kristin Schmaltz) Rose, Andrea Rose (fiance, Adam Dexter), Rachel (Bobby) Brooks, Brent (Megan) Van Erdewyk, Brenden (Kelsey Rude) Heims, and Derek Drexler (Kayla Eiben); great-grandchildren, Harper, Briar, Greyson, Grant, Raelynn, Deacon, and Vivian; brother Sam Rudd of Sac City, Iowa; and lifelong friend, Verlene Montgomery Hawker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; infant brother, Joey Rudd; brother, Gary Rudd; sister, Sally (John) Loughren; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rudd.
Memorials in Judy’s memory may be directed to either the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
