Ruth Ann Korines (Besta) passed away peacefully January 30 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. She had been living with her sister Patricia Hruby of Cedar Rapids. She is being cared for by Cedar Memorial.
Ruth was born in Cedar Rapids, IA October 1st, 1953, to Milo William and Mary Ellen Besta. She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas H. Korines, her parents and older brother Gary Lee Besta. She is survived by her three sisters, Janice Rae Kerr (Arkansas), Patricia Mae Hruby (Iowa), Barbara Jean Beyer (Iowa), and her stepson James N. Korines (Illinois).
Ruth spent an idyllic childhood in Cedar Rapids filled with many relatives and family friends. She attended college for Graphic Arts and worked in printing and publishing. She married Nick in 1988 and gained an incredible stepson, James. Nick and Ruth traveled extensively and lived in four states. They last lived in Englewood, Florida until his passing in 2024. Ruth worked full time until she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October.
Since 1998, through all her jobs and living in various states she vacationed a week every year with her three sisters. Her last vacation with her sisters was April 2024 at her home in Florida.
A visitation is planned for February 12th, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel 1221 1st Ave. SW Cedar Rapids, IA 52405 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
A memorial service is planned at Cumberland Chapels in Norridge, Illinois at a later date. Her interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.
Ruth is now at peace.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Ruth can be made to the family or a charity of your choice.
