Sally is survived by her siblings: Richard (Kathy) Hoffman; Ronald (Barb) Hoffman; Jean (Stephen) Becker; Linda (John) Elliff; Laureen Hauptmann; and Janet (A.R.) Carbonell, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Hoffman; brother, Baby John Hoffman; sister, Mary Kay Hoffman Boston; brother, Robert Hoffman & wife Kathie King Hoffman; brother-in-law, Damon Hauptmann; and nephews, Jamie Hoffman & Ross Carbonell.
Sally was born on November 9, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Schmidt) Hoffman. She was a proud graduate of Kennedy High School’s Special Education program, Class of 1974.
Sally lived her life centered on love, family, and faith. She cherished family gatherings and found deep joy in simple pleasures—sewing with her own unique stitching, crafting, watching television, and listening to music from the 1960s and 1970s. She especially treasured the annual sisters’ shopping trips and going out to eat. Sally had a beautiful smile, a great sense of humor, a lifelong love of animals and a childlike heart that brought joy to those around her.
She was known for her strong sense of right and wrong, her faith, and her special connection to those who had passed before her. Sally enjoyed tracking the weather and playing the Slug Bug game, and anything that glowed in the dark. Family meant everything to her, and she lived each day with kindness.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Discovery Living family for their care, support, and compassion shown to Sally for the last 14 years.
