President Donald Trump will be visiting Iowa on Tuesday to deliver a speech on energy and the economy.
During Trump’s visit to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum last week, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles told reporters that Trump would be going to Iowa on Jan 27.
Trump last visited Iowa on July 3, 2025, to announce the launch of a national celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary during an event at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.
Trump's remarks Tuesday will be held at Horizon Event Center, 2100 NW 100th St. in Clive. The doors are set to open to the public at noon, with the event expected to begin mid-afternoon.
Last week, the Republican Party of Iowa posted a registration link urging the public to register early due to limited seating. The link is no longer active.
The White House said this will be a kick-off to weekly travel by the president ahead of this year’s midterm elections.
The event follows the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents on Saturday in Minneapolis. Earlier in January, 37-year-old Renee Good was shot dead by a federal agent in Minneapolis.
These killings, alongside the Trump administration's immigration crackdown in Minnesota, have sparked national protests.
There are plans for a protest outside the venue where Trump is delivering his remarks, starting at 2 p.m., to protest his administration's immigration policies and enforcement, as well as recent actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
