Cherie Lee Thomas, 66, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, at St. Lukes Hospital, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Private family burial will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Cherie was born on October 1, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Earl and Patricia (Shonka) Thomas. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Class of 1977. She worked for many years at Options of Linn County. She enjoyed watching movies, reading People magazine, listening to music and, most of all, spending time with family.
Cherie is survived by her siblings Linda Kisling, Brian Thomas, and Craig (Robin) Thomas; her nephews Jeremy Kisling, Eric (Kris) Kisling, and Justin (Cerisa) Thomas; her great-niece and great-nephew Ellery Kisling and Zander Kisling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law Dean Kisling, her sister-in-law Pat Thomas, and a nephew Ron Irvin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association in her name.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to her caregiver Julie Mutava and the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital for their loving care of Cherie.
