Joseph Leonard Quetsch was born on post at the Presidio in San Francisco on March 19, 1954 to Richard Quetsch M.D. and Frances Dineen Quetsch. The family settled in Cedar Rapids in 1959 where Joe grew up and graduated from Regis High School, then went on to Saint John's University and the University of Iowa School of Medicine. On September 10, 1988 he married Mary Manulik, with whom he had three children. After a career in hospital-based emergency care he entered private practice with Instacare where he worked until 1998 when he moved to Columbia, MO. He then had a career in medical information technology when digital records were new to the medical profession. He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed hiking, canoeing and camping with family and friends. He passed away on January 4, 2026 in Columbia, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings John Quetsch and Molly Quetsch-Bales. He is survived by his wife, his son Matthew (Mandy) of Columbia, MO, son Timothy (Lauren) of Fayetteville, AR, daughter Libby (John Troupis) of Hong Kong, sisters Mary Hansen of Cedar Rapids and Kathy Edwards of Eau Claire, WI; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and friends David Steninger and Kathy Dowd Ulrich.
His children will plan a memorial gathering at a later date.
