Cedar Rapids man sentenced to over 6 years for meth trafficking
He sold meth to a confidential informant working with law enforcement

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man who distributed methamphetamine in 2024 was sentenced this week to more than six years in federal prison.
Jared Stuart Stratton, 46, pleaded guilty Aug. 20 in U.S. District Court to one count of distribution of a controlled substance. Stratton sold meth on three separate occasions between September and October of 2024 to an confidential informant working with law enforcement, according to evidence at sentencing.
U.S. District Chief Judge C.J. Williams sentenced Stratton to 80 months and ordered him to serve five years on supervised release following his prison term.
Stratton is being held by the U.S. Marshals Service until he can be transported to a federal prison.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Vander Stoep and was investigated by Homeland Security Task Force in Kansas City, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force, which consists of the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Cedar Rapids and Marion police departments and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
