CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids woman who illegally possessed a stolen gun after having felony convictions was sentenced this week to more than six years in federal prison.
Daisha Rae Bradshaw, 33, pleaded guilty Sept. 12 in U.S. District Court to one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. During the plea hearing, she admitted to illegally possessing a gun on May 16 when police found the gun and methamphetamine in her purse during a traffic stop.
Bradshaw cannot have firearms because of felony convictions from 2017 and 2018, according to court documents. She also has a lengthy criminal history including assaults, domestic abuse assault and theft. Bradshaw also has multiple convictions for eluding, where she led officers on high-speed car chases, driving in the wrong direction on an exit ramp off Interstate 380 and causing crashes.
U.S. District Judge Leonard Strand sentenced Bradshaw to 78 months in prison and ordered her to serve three years of supervised release following her prison term.
Strand, during sentencing, noted her criminal history was “relentless and obnoxious” and that “it was amazing she hasn’t killed somebody.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Williams and investigated by the Cedar Rapids Police Department and FBI.
