Betty Jean Krezek, 87, of Traer, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Emery Place in Robins, Iowa, where she resided the past four years after a long battle with Dementia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1102 Walnut St., Traer. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Clutier. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 9-10 AM prior to the Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church.
Betty was born on February 28, 1938, in Oneida Township, Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Zmolek) Yuska.
Betty graduated from Clutier High School with the Class of 1956. She moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she worked until she was united in marriage to Duane (Boyse) Krezek at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on June 24, 1958. He passed away on November 28, 1987, at the age of 55 of cancer.
The Krezek’s owned Boyse’s Grocery in Clutier, and after selling the business, Betty continued to work at the grocery store. She later worked at Abbe’s in Clutier, Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer, and Benco Manufacturing in Belle Plaine, where she retired after twenty years.
Betty moved to Traer in 2005, where she resided until 2021 when she moved to Emery Place due to her health.
She never remarried, but had a special friend, Bob Scovill of Marshalltown. They enjoyed each other’s companionship for many years. He passed away on May 8, 2022.
Betty enjoyed tending to her flowers, traveling, visiting, polka music, and spending time with her family and friends. She had a love for cardinals, adored her grandsons, and loved to seasonally decorate in her home. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer and the woman’s society.
Survivors include her son, Kevin (Lori) Krezek of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Joni (George) Buresh of Traer; grandsons, Brady (Maggie) Buresh, Tayler Buresh, and Kyle (Jessica High) Krezek; brother, Ron (Ruth) Yuska of Waterloo; along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Duane; seven sisters, Eleanor Novotny, Dorothy Adam, Helen Zmolek, Leona Krezek, Albina Krizek, Martha Untiedt, and Maxine Yanda; five brothers, Harry Yuska, Stanley Yuska, Melvin Yuska, Clarence Yuska, and Joseph Yuska in infancy.
A memorial fund will be established.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
