Mary Ann (Kopetsky) Broxey, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. with visitation to begin one hour prior on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Mary was born December 19, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Genevieve (McKenna) Kopetsky. She graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Iowa. On October 3, 1953, Mary was united in marriage to Loren “Buck” Broxey in Marion, Iowa. She worked at JCPenney for 30 years, retiring in 1997. Mary enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading and road trips to the casino. She loved big family gatherings and adored each and every one of her great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, Douglas (Marilyn) Broxey of West Branch, Iowa, Michael Broxey of Sioux City, Iowa, and Lori (Ron) Mohr of Central City, Iowa; grandchildren, Nathan (Kylie) Nelson, Judy (Spencer) Nowadzky, and Todd (Katie) Nelson; twelve great-grandchildren; step-grandsons, Chad (Jessica) Mohr, and Curtis (Jenna) Mohr; three step-great-grandchildren; and brothers, George (Barbara) Kopetsky, and James (Eleanor) Kopetsky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren “Buck” Broxey; sisters, Dorothy Kopetsky, Marcella Janssen, and Doris Moore; and granddaughter, Jamie Franklin.
