CEDAR RAPIDS — A 52-year-old Cedar Rapids man has been accused of exchanging sexual messages with someone whom he believed to be a minor.
Charles E. Adams Jr. was arrested Sunday on a warrant charging enticement of a minor under the age of 16, a Class D felony. He made an initial appearance Monday in Linn County District Court and is being held in custody on a $5,000 bond.
Court documents allege that Adams in November began communicating with a social media user who he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. In reality, the account was run by investigators from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Adams is accused of exchanging multiple sexual messages with the girl, even after being made aware that the account holder was purportedly 15.
Charging documents allege he arranged a meeting with the girl in southwest Cedar Rapids. He was instead greeted by CRPD officers at the prearranged meeting place, and a warrant was filed for his arrest.
