Mary Ann Fortman, 88, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 26, 2025, with her children by her side. Mary was born on March 6, 1937 in Central City to William and Anna (Buresh) Holub. She graduated from Central City High School and went on to work at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids.
On September 29, 1962, she married the love of her life, Francis Fortman at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Central City. They were blessed with two children and shared 63 years together.
In the years that followed, Mary worked at Lorraine’s Accounting Service, Hutchinson Lumber, and finally at Wal-Mart, Inc. until she retired in 1999. First and foremost, she loved her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to read, take long walks and go to the casinos. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Julie Williams of Manchester and Mike (Cathy) Fortman of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Dan (Amber) Williams, Tim Williams, Whitney (Scotty) Hall, Michaela (Jordan) Kruger, Maci (Drake) Fortman; ten great-grandchildren; in-laws, Omer Fortman of Manchester; Helen Wulfekuhle of Edgewood and Lillian (James) Nefzger of Delhi; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; brothers, William Holub, Jr. and Edward Holub; in-laws Albert and Emma Fortman, DeLain Fortman, Rachel Fortman, Lillus Fortman, Lois Fortman and Floyd Wulfekuhle.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa, with Reverend Gabriel Anderson officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2026 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Iowa. Friends may also call 9:00 to 10:15 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa.
