Doris Jean Bulman

Doris Jean Bulman, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the age of 94. Born on September 24, 1931, in Cedar Rapids to Clifford Henry Sampica Sr. and Thelma Maxine (Bean) Sampica, Doris grew up in Marion and attended Marion High School.
On January 26, 1950, Doris married the love of her life, Lloyd "Buck" Charles Bulman Sr. Their 75-year and 11-month union was a beautiful testament to continuing devotion and Love. As a devoted wife and a dedicated mother to Lloyd Jr., Terri, Ricky, and Billy, together they built a remarkable life and family. She was a pillar of strength and warmth. Doris was the matriarch of a vast and loving family, including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
During her children’s youth, Doris spent her days being available; she was a MOM. After the kids were raised, Doris provided nourishment and a friendly smile as a cook for Linn-Mar Schools. She was mostly a private person until she won at Bingo. Bingo and maybe a few slots were favorite activities. She called it going to work.
Doris is survived by Husband - Lloyd "Buck" Sr., Daughter - Terri S. Bean (Jim), Son - Ricky A. Bulman (Kathy), Daughters In-Law Carol (Bill Bulman), and Judy (Lloyd Jr.), 12 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren, and 19 Great-Great-Grandchildren and counting.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her sons, Lloyd C. Bulman Jr., and Bill J. Bulman; her brother, Clifford H. Sampica Jr.; and her sister, Joyce E. Jandik.
A celebration of Doris's life will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Saturday, December 27th, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The interment will be held privately at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a Memorial be sent to St. Croix Hospice, 1208 Dina Court, Hiawatha, IA 52233.
