Robert “Bob” F. Sirowy, 90, of Fairfax, Iowa, died Friday, December 19, 2025. A private service will be held. Burial will take place at Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.
Bob was born August 14, 1935, on his family farm in Swisher, Iowa, to Milo J. and Lillian A. (Novak) Sirowy. He graduated from Wilson High School and served in the Navy Reserves. On April 17, 1955, he married Marlene Detrick in Cedar Rapids. Bob worked at Rockwell Collins for over 35 years, retiring in 1998 as a supervisor. He was a member of the Fairfax American Legion Pekomy Post 572, Cedar Rapids Elks Lodge #251, Asbury Methodist Church, WFLA, and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, yard work, and playing cards, especially Euchre. Above all, he cherished time with his family, listening to music and playing guitar, dancing, Christmas time, and spending time with his two cats, Dewey and Kassey.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Marlene Sirowy of Cedar Rapids; children, Robin (Joyce) Sirowy of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Pamela Vasek of Omaha, Nebraska, and Lisa Patterson of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four grandchildren of the heart; and four great-grandchildren of the heart; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Milo J. Sirowy; his mother, Lillian A. Sirowy; his brother, Donald Sirowy; his sisters, Marion Malatek and Darlene Bulicek; his son-in-law, Kevin Patterson; his hunting dog, Doc; and several nieces and nephews.
