James “Jim” Joseph Valliere of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, surrounded by family, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Jim was born on September 20, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, to Richard and Mary Elizabeth (Hennessey) Valliere. He attended Regis High School and later Mount Mercy College before serving in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Jim worked for several years as an IT specialist. Jim enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, including golf, the Minnesota Vikings, the Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
He is survived by his three children: Josh (Rochelle Rafael) Valliere of Solon, IA; Jenny (Aaron) Hintz of Chicago, IL; and Justin Valliere of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Mary Elizabeth Valliere of Cedar Rapids, IA; his siblings, Mark (Susie) Valliere of Cedar Rapids, IA; John (Deanna) Valliere of Eldridge, IA; and Lisa Pfeiffer of Cedar Rapids, IA; and his two grandchildren, Harper and Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Anne Valliere and Rose Marie Valliere.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Parish in Cedar Rapids on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider a donation to the Iowa City VA Health Care System at https://www.va.gov/iowa-city-health-care/work-with-us/volunteer-or-donate/, in memory of James Valliere, in gratitude for the compassionate care they provided.
