Beverly A. “Bev” Arnold, 83 years old, of Walker, Iowa, passed away peacefully of natural causes, Monday, December 15, 2025, surrounded by her family at the Center Point Heights Senior Living Community in Center Point, Iowa.
Private graveside services will be at the Quasqueton Cemetery in Quasqueton, Iowa, at a later date.
Bev was born December 12, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Boyd and Irene (Baxter) Vandaver. Bev attended school in Coggon, Iowa, and graduated in 1961 from Coggon High School where she was a cheerleader for the Coggon Rockets. After a blind date, set up by mutual friends, she knew she had met the love of her life, Carroll GENE Arnold. They were married on July 8, 1961, in the summer after she graduated. Bev and Gene would go on to have seven children.
She found joy in spending time with all her family, and her home was always a place of warmth, even in the bitter cold winters. It was filled with impromptu card games, parties with friends, and was always a place filled with laughter for all who visited the farm. Bev enjoyed bowling in several leagues when the Walker Bowling Alley was the happening place to be. She earned many trophies and had a large collection of trading pins she accumulated over the years – even traveling out of state for tournaments.
Bev worked on the farm outside of Walker and also at the Allerton Axtell Supper Club in Independence, Iowa, the Corner Tavern in Walker, the Quasky Mart in Quasqueton, and later at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, whose kindness and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.
Bev is survived by six children, Anita (Patrick McMullen) Arnold of Center Point, Iowa, Angie (Brett) Thein of Woodstock, Georgia, Jon (Lisa Rees) Arnold of Manchester, Iowa, Annette (Brian) Voss of Weatherford, Texas, Anna (Brian) Nichols of Weatherford, Texas, and Andrea (Bob Arp) Arnold of Walker, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrna Carstenson; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Arnold; one son, James “Jimmy” Arnold; her brother, Bob Vandaver; and her sisters, Marilyn Thorne and Happy Miller.
Bev’s love will never be forgotten and she will be missed by many.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at the Center Point Heights Senior Living Community and Hospice of Mercy for their care and kindness in these final years of Bev’s life.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be given to organizations in Bev’s memory.
