Timothy J Hollopeter
Ladora
Timothy J Hollopeter of Ladora, passed away Thursday, December 4 at the age of 69. Those that knew Tim well, knew that dying at 69 would make him giggle.
Tim was born October 3, 1956 to Charlie and Jo Hollopeter. He lived his entire life in Ladora, causing havoc and chaos all over Iowa County. He hated school, but was proud of his accomplishments as a defensive lineman for HLV football where he won many athletic accolades and eventually graduated with the Betty Crocker of the Year Award.
Tim married Rae Jean Cochran (or Jugs, as Tim called her) on November 12, 1976. He enlisted in pheasant hunting immediately following the ceremony and carried that love of hunting through their entire 49 years of marriage. Tim was an avid deer hunter, teaching those skills to many in his life. To this union of marriage brought 2 daughters, Wendy and Samantha. Neither were football players or hunters, but Tim did teach them to be professional flashlight holders.
Beyond hunting, Tim enjoyed fishing, golfing, mowing the yard and picking on people. If Tim knew you, he had a nickname for you. Tim spent his “working” years with the Iowa County Road Department. It was at this job that his best life advice came, “Always poop on company time.” Tim also held football coaching positions at HLV and Williamsburg High Schools. Most recently, Tim returned back to HLV to make amends by working as a part-time bus driver. He also held many volunteer positions for Iowa County through this 69 years, including firefighter and fire chief in Ladora, weather spotter, EMS and HLV food bank.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Jo and Charlie Hollopeter, and son-in-law, Gene Condon. He leaves behind wife, Rae Jean of Ladora, Wendy (Graham) Oswald of Wildwood, MO and Samantha (Jake) Moyer of Birmingham, AL and grandchildren Gavin “Governor” (Madi) Oswald, Tyson “Tito” Oswald & Nora “No-Nuts” Oswald. He also leaves behind a brother, Tom, and several in-laws, nieces and nephews who will all miss being picked on.
A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 3:00 -7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to the Iowa County EMS in Tim’s honor. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
