The Winter Gardening Fair is a signature event for the Master Gardeners of Linn County.
The day-long event offers more than 75 gardening classes, and attendees will get to select six sessions taught by local Master Gardeners, industry professionals and Iowa State University horticulture specialists. The fair also features DIY projects, horticulture displays and vendor exhibits. Tuition includes morning coffee, snacks and lunch, making it an enjoyable day of learning and connection.
The Kirkwood Linn Regional Center is located at 1770 Boyson Rd., Hiawatha.
Early bird registration begins Saturday, Dec. 6, and is $75 through Jan. 2, 2026; regular admission is $85, and high school or college students pay $42.
More than 400 participants attended last year’s fair, which sold out quickly. This year’s event will include presentations by Garden Gate Magazine, Seed Savers Exchange, Monarch Watch, and the Xerces Society.
The Linn County Master Gardeners are trained volunteers that are passionate about sharing their love for gardening through science-based education.
Beyond education, the Linn County Master Gardener program is committed to improving community wide access to fresh produce. Volunteers grew and donated over 15,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables to local food pantries in 2025.
Proceeds from the Winter Gardening Fair support these efforts and fund free and affordable educational programs for care centers, schools and community groups throughout Linn County.
