What to know: Despite the absence of three players (Chit-Chat Wright, Emely Rodriguez and Teagan Mallegni), Iowa marched to 7-0 with an 86-69 victory over Western Illinois on Wednesday.
Freshman Addie Deal had her best performance as a Hawkeye, scoring 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Ava Heiden posted a double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds), her fourth of the season.
Heiden is 10th nationally in field-goal percentage (.657). As a team, the Hawkeyes rank 11th in that department (.506), 14th in field-goal defense (.317).
This is the first meeting between the Hawkeyes and the Stags.
Fairfield has compiled a 63-8 mark since the beginning of the 2023-24 season. The Stags were champions of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 2024 and 2025, reaching the NCAA tournament both times.
The Stags’ lone defeat came Nov. 15, against North Carolina (now ranked 12th) by an 82-68 margin.
Meghan Anderson (6-1, junior forward) averages 20.0 points per game. Kaety L’Amoreaux (5-6, junior guard) adds 18.6 points and 5.4 assists per contest to lead the Stags.
Fairfield ranks No. 1 nationally in free-throw percentage (.862), and two players — Jillian Huerter and Janelle Brown — are a combined 27 of 27 from the line.
