The entire Eastern Iowa area is under a winter storm warning beginning tonight with a major winter storm moving into the area.
The National Weather Service is predicting snow to kick off around 9 p.m. tonight and continue through 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
In Cedar Rapids, snow totals from the storm are expected to reach somewhere between 10 and 14 inches, National Weather Service forecast totals show.
Models are showing there are a few periods where heavy snow is forecast -- particularly Saturday afternoon.
The storm will have significant impacts on travel, forecasters warn.
The snow is also forecast to be on the wetter side, meaning it will be heavier to shovel. Shoveling smaller amounts multiple times is recommended.
