John “Greenie” Steven Greenlee, 76, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Hallmark Care Center. A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow the service where military honors will be rendered.
John was born May 16, 1949, in Cedar Rapids to John and Virginia (Kelley) Munson. Virginia later married Robert Greenlee, and he adopted John and his two siblings. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and gave 23 years of service to his country.
He was and outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and bird watching. John’s hobbies were not limited to the outdoors; he also enjoyed cooking and using his artistic mind to forge and craft. He loved spending time with his family, especially his dog Spook.
John is survived by his siblings, Karen (Bill) Driscoll, Michael Greenlee, and Phyllis Greenlee (Ray Jones); stepson, Joshua (Colleen) Squires; along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Susan Fleetwood.
John was a sensitive and thoughtful man and was always looking out for friends and family. He will be missed by those who knew him.
