Arlita Hopkins
Wallace, NC
With deep love and profound respect, we annnounce the passing of Arlita Fiala Hopkins on Friday, November 7, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born on September 23, 1946, in Linn County, Iowa, where she grew up. She graduated from La Salle High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and she attended Mount Mercy College.
While going to school, Arlita met her future husband, Mark Hopkins, and they were married for over 58 wonderful years. She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters, Christine and Dana, and their husbands, David and Charles, and her grandson, Joshua, her six brothers (two pre-deceased) with five sisters, many of whom reside in the Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arlita's life was marked by her deep faith in the Catholic Church. She has been an active member of the Tranfiguration of Jesus Catholic Church in Wallace, NC, for over 20 years, where she has contributed to various ministries. She was as active as her pain would allow in Saint Vincent dePaul, Catholic Charities, Women of Transfiguration and the Rosary.
Arlita also enjoyed cooking and baking, water aerobics, Mahjong, and the art of conversation. She never met a stranger.
After almost 40 years of struggling with multiple sclerosis, Arlita was ready to return to the Lord. We love and miss her.
