IOWA CITY — Sanctuary Pub is hosting its first Thanksgiving dinner for students who can’t make it home for the holiday.
The free dinner, open only to students, will be held at the pub, 405 S. Gilbert St., on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) from 6 to 9 p.m.
No RSVP is necessary — simply bring a valid student ID.
“We know many students stay in Iowa City during the holiday due to travel costs, work schedules, or personal circumstances. We wanted to make sure they still had a warm meal, a welcoming environment, and a sense of family on Thanksgiving,” said Sanctuary Pub owner Yara Elamir. “Sanctuary Pub has always been about community, and this was a meaningful way for us to give back.”
The meal will feature roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, pie and non-alcoholic beverages.
Elamir, Sanctuary Pub’s new owner, purchased and reopened the renovated space earlier this year, several months after it closed.
