Michael "Mikey" Rogers, beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and respected community leader, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, with a prayer service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
Mike was born in Boscobel, Wisconsin, on February 23, 1962, to Charles “Chuck” and Sharon (Wiseman) Rogers. Mike grew up in Marion, Iowa, where he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Joseph’s Elementary, and Regis High School. He was a proud graduate of the University of Iowa.
Growing up in Iowa, Mike was nicknamed “Iron” for his toughness. He was known for his ability to build or fix anything that had a motor. He had various interests, including hunting, snow and water skiing, golfing, boating on the Mississippi, working on cars, and spending time with his relatives on Castle Rock Lake in Wisconsin. He owned horses for several years as well. Mike had the opportunity to travel globally, visiting places such as Africa, Mexico, Russia, Ireland, the U.K., and France, where he tested his French language skills.
Mike built a distinguished career in the financial services industry. For over three decades, Mike held senior leadership roles at GE Capital and Element Financial, and Citizens Commercial Bank. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Director of Asset Sales at Citizens Commercial Bank. Mike’s leadership left a lasting impression on colleagues across the industry; he was known for his integrity, professionalism, and mentorship. He retired from Citizens five years ago, where he is remembered as a trusted advisor and steady presence who led with both skill and heart.
Working in the financial industry brought Mike to Maryland, where he lived for over 25 years. He fell in love with the Inner Harbor of Baltimore and remodeled a beautiful home in Fells Point. There, Mike was deeply woven into the fabric of his community. A devoted member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, he served on the School Board and Finance Committee for St. Casimir Catholic School, always championing opportunities for students and families. Mike’s faith significantly guided his commitment to service and generosity in every aspect of his life. Mike’s compassion extended beyond the church walls. Through his long-time involvement with the United Way, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Maryland Food Bank, Franciscan Center, and Our Daily Bread. Mike was instrumental in providing educational scholarships to those in need at St. Casimir Catholic School. He also organized annual Thanksgiving dinners for friends and families without means; acts of kindness that reflected his deep care for others and belief in giving back.
Mike will be remembered for his strong sense of his Irish heritage, kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity. He was the heart of his family and a source of joy for his many friends. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his faith, friendship, and service.
Surviving Mike are his father, Chuck (Judy) Rogers; brother, Pat Rogers; sister-in-law, Sheryl Wallace; two nieces, Katherine Rogers and Samantha Rogers; and two nephews, Joseph Rogers (fiancée Brooke Tallent) and William Rogers.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon (Wiseman) Rogers, and an older brother, Tim Rogers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir Catholic Church (2800 O'Donnell St., Baltimore, MD 21224).
