Coe football extended its postseason streak.
The Kohawks defeated Central, 13-7, in the regular-season finale, helping continue its season.
Coe received an at-large bid in the NCAA Division III playoffs, finishing 8-2 overall and placing second in the American Rivers Conference with a 7-1 mark. The 40-team field was announced during an online selection show Sunday afternoon.
The Kohawks will make their third straight playoff appearance, which is the longest stretch in program history. They travel to Concordia University in Mequon, Wis., for a first round game Saturday at noon. The Falcons (9-1) were the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference champions.
This is the first meeting in football between the two schools. The Falcons reached the postseason for the first time since 2013 and ranked 48th in total offense and 61st in total defense, nationally.
The winner will play a second-round game at Bethel (Minn.), which is 10-0 and received a first-round bye.
A-R-C champion Wartburg (10-0) received a first-round bye and will host the winner between Wheaton (Ill.) College (8-2) and Crown (Minn.) College (7-3) in the second round.
Coe and Wartburg are the only Iowa schools to qualify for the D-III postseason.
In NCAA Division II, Upper Iowa was in contention for a postseason berth. The Peacocks posted its best D-II school history, going 8-3 overall and 6-2 to place third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. They were ranked seventh in the region before its 28-21 loss No. 10 University of Indianapolis but fell out of the top eight after the finale to qualify.
