Funeral services: 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, with Rev. Bonnie Koeppen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Teahen Funeral home, and again on Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery in Covington.
Pat is survived by her children: Rick (Pat) Tallman, Debra (Daniel) Delagrave, and Julie (Daniel) Burke; eight grandchildren: Mark (Jessica) Tallman, Alan (Michelle) Tallman, Andrew Tallman, Gina George, Electra “Ellie” Delagrave, Joe (April) Delegrave, Caprice Delagrave, and Lander Delagrave; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Evan; parents; and sister, Barbara Burger.
Patricia was born on August 30, 1929, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Bernice and Olive Mae (Sunderlin) Ricketts. She graduated from Iowa City High School with the Class of 1947 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Iowa. On June 23, 1951, Pat was united in marriage to Even Tallman in Iowa City. They shared a beautiful life together until his death in 2019.
For most of her career Pat worked as a secretary and receptionist with Rapids, Inc., later retiring in 1988. She also devoted many years to caring for her family as a stay-at-home wife and mother—roles she treasured above all else.
Pat lived a life centered around service. She was a faithful volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital, where she knit countless baby caps and assisted wherever she was needed. She was a longtime Meals on Wheels driver and served as a Resident Advocate at West Side Estates, offering compassion, support, and advocacy to those around her. Pat was also an avid reader, finishing six to eight books every two weeks, and she and Evan treasured more than 20 years wintering together in Florida.
Pat’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Prairie Hills for their wonderful care and kindness
Memorials may be directed to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
